Imagine being on beautiful Whidbey Island in early September...probably one of the best times to be here and taking Kathryn Stat's workshop at the same time...what could be better than that!!
Painting the Landscape in Oil
Kathryn Stats, Instructor
September 6-10, 2012
tuition $595
A five-day workshop, this class is aimed at intermediate-advanced and advanced level students.
Kathryn will demonstrate for an hour each morning, working on the same piece throughout the week in an attempt to complete a painting. Students will work from their own reference material and may setup a still life if space permits. Instruction will focus on establishing the large shapes by value and color and maintaining their integrity while producing the finished work. Most classes will be in the studio with one or two taking place out of doors, weather permitting. That location will be repeated in order to have time to further develop the work and ponder solutions for problems.
To make it easy, just visit our website, http://www.pacificnorthwestartschool.org/ and secure your spot with our secure online registration page. Go to "painting" and then click on Kathryn's workshop found alphabetically by instructor's last name...the rest is easy...secure now with a deposit of only $100....or pay in full, it's up to you!

Fiber, Ikebana and more!
On the heels of back to back fiber workshops with an Ikebana class squeezed in as well, we wanted to share the fabulous art being created right in our beloved Island community here at "your" art school...The Pacific NorthWest Art School.
Here is an image of a wonderful felted fantasy masked created this weekend in Sharon Costello's fiber workshop. Sharon helps her student with a few pointers.
Next door, at the same time, Seattle Ikebana artist Megumi Scacher, demonstrates styles from basic, formal to free style for her class of rapt attendees.
There is always something artistic going on...come by and visit us and see what we have in store for you for the rest of the summer!

Life Without Art?
Photo by Ray Pfortner, Instructor at PNWAS
Ever wonder what your life would be like without art? For me, art allows me to see the world around me with a richer and deeper perspective. Now when running the bluff trail out at Ebey's I see the light playing on the wheat in the fields. I envision that recreated on the painter's canvas and visualize how a photographer might capture it. My mind drifts to how the fiber artist would weave the colors into a fiber piece. So when you are asked "What does the art school mean to you?" Think how your world has been made different through the experience of attending a lecture or presentation, or taking a workshop from us...we want to hear from you! http://www.pacificnorthwestartschool.org/
