In this workshop, students will explore the creative possibilities of kumihimo with wire while working on the equipment of their choice (taka dai, maru dai, kaku dai, disk or square plate). In the process, they will learn the properties of wire and how they can impact a braided structure. Students will learn how to successfully handle wire, how to avoid typical challenges presented by this material, and explore how cores can expand their creative opportunities. Time will be set aside to discuss finishing techniques. Students should have some braiding experience as the workshop is not designed to teach kumihimo.
